Now that almost everyone has a smart phone with a built-in camera with specifications beyond those of dedicated cameras of yesteryear there is ample opportunity to take photographs.

Take the time to read the instructions and you'll be amazed at the features that you have at your fingertips - and then try them out!

If you've got a digital camera then you'll have even more options - again, take time to read about them and try them out. One feature that few people use is to render a colour photograph into black and white or sepia - try it!

Whether you take photographs of people, objects or the countryside give some thought to the composition before you tap the screen. Take a look at published photographs around you - on advertising hoardings, in magazines and newspapers and on the television - don't be afraid to copy good ideas!
